Thank you.

We did it!

Thanks to your support, I'm headed back to the DC Council for four more years. I'm grateful to all those who participated in my re-election effort, and humbled by the nearly 80% of Ward 1 voters who chose me to represent them.

Over the past four years we worked together, to add or protect more than 500 units of truly affordable housing in Ward 1, to invest more than $200 million into our neighborhood schools, to house thousands of homeless families and individuals, and to directly serve more than 5,000 Ward 1 constituents. But there's more work to do, and I'm glad to have that opportunity.

On Election Day not only did we have a record turnout in the District (and across the country), we had an inspiring number of first-time candidates in Ward 1. Thanks to all those who ran for ANC, and to all 3 of our dedicated State Board of Education candidates. The more passionate people we have running for office, the better our community becomes.

As you know, I took nothing for granted in this campaign. Juggling being a Councilmember, candidate and new mom was one of the most challenging experiences I've ever had. Standing on your shoulders, I got it all done.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
